Is It Good To Be Green?

paperclip

I just had a life and death battle with a spider. I am posting this because I am continually asked if we are biodynamic, organic, sustainable etc. What is our carbon footprint? I wrestle with this. Just how green am I?
I fell into the spider’s web trying to save my dog Bogie. Bogie was cowering behind a pine tree refusing to come out when I called. He didn’t warn me about the spider. He let me walk straight into the web. I shrieked. I flayed around. I swear each strand of web was as strong and as heavy as a tug boat line. But, it was nothing compared to the spider. The spider was as big as my head, which according to Nina is really big and getting bigger all the time. That should put it all into perspective for you.
The spider was getting ready to eat Bogie when I stumbled unto the scene. My struggling in its web stopped its advance towards my dog. It turned and smiled at me instead. It was an evil smile. I shiver to think of it. I was trapped. It jumped on me, its nasty fangs opening as it got closer.
We struggled for what felt like hours, my arms weakening and his fangs coming closer to my face. Once, I thought Bogie had joined the fight. I was sure he had grabbed one of the spider’s massive legs between his teeth in an attempt to save me. In reality, Bogie wasn’t moving from behind the tree. He didn’t even attempt to cheer me on.
One minute I was like Frodo in the Hobbit paralyzed, helpless. The next minute I was free fighting for my life, hurling the spider away. Finally, I resembled Golem crawling for the back door of my house, the spider coming after me. That is when the world seemed to stop. The spider seemed to freeze in mid stride. I couldn’t move. This must be it I thought. My life is about to pass before me. I waited for some wonderful vision. Nothing happened. There was only Bogie staring at me from behind the tree. He just sort of looked at me. “What,” was all I could make out from his expression?
“I’ll tell you what. You could come out from behind that tree and help,” I was about to shout. When suddenly, everything sped up and the battle began again.
I made it to the door. That was when I discovered my true self. It is in those moments when you are near death that you discover who you really are. The best of us reach down inside our selves and bring out greatness. I reached down and came up with a can of bug poison that I knew was abandoned behind the door. I blasted that spider. So there you have the answer. I am green unless my life depends upon it.
