Want to try a fun blind tasting? Pick Pinot Noir from these seven locations. You don’t need to rank them. You and your friends will have more fun developing your identification skills. But, remember that the riper we winemakers pick, the more all Pinot Noirs taste the same.
Roses and light red cherries with higher acid - Oregon
Bright red cherries - Russian River
Stewed strawberries and orange peel with lighter color and higher acid - Carneros
Strawberries and tomato paste - Monterey
Cherries and Play Dough - San Luis Obispo
Dark Cherries and spice - Santa Maria
Red berries and white pepper with higher alcohol- Santa Rita
Cherries, earth and fire- Row Eleven
Fun how the same grapes can taste so different depending on location.
